Founder & Lead Engineer, RAITHub
QA as a service is priced three ways: a monthly plan for an agreed scope, a fixed price for a one-off audit, or a monthly fee for a dedicated, managed team. On 2026 market data, testers cost from under $20 an hour offshore to $150 or more in North America, web app pentests $5,000 to $30,000, and accessibility audits mostly $1,250 to $2,750.
These are market figures from the sources cited below, not RAITHub prices. If you would rather have a fixed quote for your own product, see how RAITHub would test this below.
How is QA as a service priced?
Almost every QA quote is one of three shapes. Knowing which shape you are being offered makes quotes comparable.
| Pricing model | What you pay for | How the price is set | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly QA plan | An agreed scope each month: regression testing per release, exploratory testing of new features, growing automation, a report | A fixed monthly fee for a defined scope, reviewed as the product grows | Products that release regularly and want every release checked |
| Fixed-price one-off audit | A defined piece of work, such as a pre-launch QA pass, a security review or a WCAG 2.2 accessibility audit, ending in a written report | A single fixed price, set from the number of journeys, pages, screens or roles in scope | A launch, an investor or customer review, or a questionnaire with a deadline |
| Dedicated QA team | Testers working on your product full time, managed by the provider | A monthly fee per team, based on its size and the mix of skills | Larger products and fast release cycles that outgrow a plan |
You will also see hourly time-and-materials billing. It is simple, but it buys hours rather than results, so ask what the hours will produce. One 2026 guide puts the premium for a managed QA service at 10 to 20% over a comparable dedicated team, and says fixed-price projects typically carry a 15 to 25% risk buffer (QA Madness). That buffer is the price of certainty: the provider, not you, carries the risk of the work taking longer.
What do testers cost per hour in 2026?
Rates vary more by region and by manual versus automation skill than by anything else.
| Region | Manual QA, per hour | Automation QA, per hour |
|---|---|---|
| India and Southeast Asia | $8 to $55 | $12 to $75 |
| Latin America | $20 to $95 | $30 to $130 |
| Eastern Europe | $25 to $110 | $35 to $150 |
| Western Europe | $60 to $160 | $85 to $210 |
| North America | $80 to $150+ | $110 to $200+ |
Source: QA Madness 2026 QA outsourcing rates, which also notes that automation rates run 20 to 50% above manual rates in every region. Freelance marketplaces sit lower: Upwork lists a median of $35 an hour for QA engineers, typically $20 to $60 (Upwork QA engineer rates), and a median of $15 an hour for software QA testers (Upwork QA tester rates).
The same guide gives a worked example: two mid-level manual QA engineers in Eastern Europe, about 160 hours a month each at $35 an hour, come to roughly $11,200 a month. That is a useful sanity check when a monthly quote arrives.
What do one-off QA, security and accessibility audits cost?
One-off audits are priced by scope: how many journeys, roles, pages or screens are tested, and how deep the testing goes.
- Web application security testing. A 2026 pricing guide puts web application penetration tests at $5,000 to $30,000, with multi-tenant SaaS, APIs, SSO, admin roles and payment flows pushing the price up (Blaze Information Security). Note what you are buying: application security testing against OWASP guidance finds real weaknesses, but only an accredited pentest firm can issue the CREST- or PCI-recognised report some contracts ask for.
- Accessibility audits. One accessibility firm's published pricing says most audits cost $1,250 to $2,750, at $100 to $250 per primary page or screen and $25 to $100 for lighter ones, tested on a representative sample (Accessible.org pricing). An audit tells you what fails WCAG 2.2 and how to fix it; it does not certify legal compliance.
- Crowdtesting cycles. A February 2026 comparison of crowdtesting platforms puts managed per-project testing at roughly €2,000 to €5,000, with enterprise services quoted individually and starting in the thousands per cycle (TestFi crowdtesting comparison).
- Pre-launch QA passes. These are usually priced like a short fixed project: the number of critical journeys, browsers and devices sets the effort. The pre-launch QA checklist is a fair outline of what such a pass should cover.
What does a dedicated QA team cost compared with hiring?
A dedicated team is priced per month, so compare it against the full monthly cost of employing the same people, not their salaries alone.
In the United States, the median wage for software quality assurance analysts and testers was $104,300 in May 2025 (US Bureau of Labor Statistics). Wages are only part of the employer's bill: in June 2026, wages and salaries were 68.5% of total compensation costs for full-time private-industry workers, with benefits making up the remaining 31.5% (BLS Employer Costs for Employee Compensation). Applying that average to the median wage gives roughly $150,000 a year for one tester, before recruiting, tools, devices and management time. That is a rough estimate from averages, not a quote for any specific hire.
A dedicated team from a provider bundles those extras into the monthly fee, along with cover for holidays and illness. Ask any provider exactly which of these are included, because that is where like-for-like comparisons usually break.
What drives the price of a QA as a service quote?
Eight factors decide where a quote lands. If two quotes differ widely, one of these is usually the reason.
- Scope of journeys and roles. Five roles across ten journeys is fifty paths to test, not fifteen.
- Platforms and devices. Web only, or web plus iOS and Android? Each extra platform and OS version widens the test matrix.
- Test types. Manual regression is the base. Security, accessibility, performance and API testing each add specialist time.
- Release frequency. Weekly releases need regression testing every week, which is why frequent releasers benefit most from automation.
- State of existing tests. A flaky suite must be repaired or deleted before it can be trusted. See how to fix flaky end-to-end tests.
- Environments and test data. Without a stable staging environment and seed data, testers lose hours waiting or guessing.
- Evidence requirements. Enterprise customers and regulated buyers may want traceable test records for every release.
- Tools and device clouds. Device clouds are a real line item: cloud browser and device testing starts at $29 to $39 a month per user, and $150 a month for a five-user team plan (BrowserStack pricing). Ask whether the quote includes them.
How do you compare QA quotes fairly?
Put every quote into the same frame before looking at the total.
- What is tested? List journeys, roles, platforms and test types. A cheaper quote often tests less.
- What is delivered? Bug reports with steps, a test plan, automated tests, a report. Hours alone are not a deliverable.
- Where do tests live? Automated tests should sit in your repository and run in your CI. If they live on the vendor's machines, you lose them when the contract ends.
- Who manages the testers? If you will be managing them day to day, you are buying staff augmentation, not a service, and should budget your own time.
- What is excluded? Certified pentest reports, legal accessibility sign-off and mobile app development are common gaps. Know them before you sign.
Buy, build or hire?
| Route | Typical market cost | Choose this when |
|---|---|---|
| A tool or SaaS testing platform | From $29 a month per user for cloud browser testing | Your developers write tests and only need browsers, devices or a runner |
| Freelancers or crowdtesting | Upwork median $35 an hour for QA engineers; crowdtesting projects around €2,000 to €5,000 | One release, one device sweep, or a short burst of extra hands |
| An in-house QA hire | US median wage $104,300, plus roughly 30% in benefits | QA is core to your product and you can recruit and lead a QA function |
| A managed QAaaS team | A monthly plan, fixed audit price or monthly team fee, quoted per scope | You need several kinds of testing and want the outcome managed for you |

Why RAITHub for QA as a service?
- All three ways to buy. A monthly QA plan, a fixed-price one-off audit (pre-launch QA, security or accessibility), or a dedicated QA team that RAITHub manages and bills monthly.
- A fixed written quote. After a free 15-minute audit, you receive a written scope and price, so you know the cost before work starts.
- Counted test suites. PropDesk runs 1,024 automated tests and Sundor Skin runs 530+. TheSkinProof, the founder's own venture rather than a client, runs 750+.
- Tests you keep. Automated tests and CI configuration go in your repository, with IP assigned to you and an NDA as standard.
When don't you need to pay for QA as a service?
- When your developers already maintain a healthy automated suite and only lack devices. Pay for a device cloud instead.
- When you need an accredited pentest report or a legal accessibility certificate. Neither is something RAITHub issues.
- When you want testers to manage yourself. RAITHub does not offer staff augmentation.
- When the product is a few static pages with no logins or payments. A careful manual check before launch may be enough.
How RAITHub would test this
Whichever model fits, a RAITHub QA quote is built from your scope, not a rate card:
- Scope: the journeys and roles that matter, the platforms and devices, and the test types: manual and exploratory, mobile, security, accessibility and automation, API and performance.
- Model: a monthly plan, a one-off audit or a dedicated team, chosen with you on the audit call.
- Delivery: bug reports with steps and evidence in your tracker, a test plan, automated tests gated in your CI, and a regular report.
- Limits stated in writing: security testing is application-level, not a certified pentest; accessibility audits do not certify legal compliance.
Timeline: one-off audits have fixed dates before they start; plans and dedicated teams run monthly. You receive: the test strategy, reports, tests and CI configuration, a handover document, full IP and an NDA. Next step: a free 15-minute audit, then a written fixed quote. For the full service description, see QA as a service.

Frequently asked questions
How much does QA as a service cost per month?
It depends on scope and team size. As a market reference, two mid-level manual testers in Eastern Europe come to roughly $11,200 a month in one 2026 worked example. RAITHub quotes a fixed monthly price after a free audit.
Is a one-off QA audit cheaper than a monthly plan?
Per engagement, usually yes, because it ends. But it checks one moment in time. If you release often, a monthly plan keeps every release covered, which a single audit cannot.
How much does an accessibility audit cost?
One accessibility firm's published pricing puts most audits at $1,250 to $2,750, priced per page or screen in a representative sample. Complex interactive apps cost more. No audit certifies legal compliance.
How much does web application security testing cost?
A 2026 guide puts web application pentests at $5,000 to $30,000. Application security testing that is not a certified pentest is scoped separately; check whether your customer needs an accredited report.
Why are automation testers more expensive than manual testers?
Automation needs programming skill, so rates run 20 to 50% higher in every region. The work pays back on repeated releases, because an automated check costs almost nothing to run again.
Does RAITHub publish QA prices?
No. RAITHub gives a written fixed quote after a free 15-minute audit, based on your scope, platforms and release pace, rather than a public rate card.
