Founder & Lead Engineer, RAITHub
A Next.js development company designs, builds and runs production web applications on Next.js and React: rendering strategy, data layer, auth, performance and deployment, not just pages. Market rates in 2026 run from about $25 an hour at the low end of agency pricing to well over $100 for senior specialists. RAITHub builds on Next.js, TypeScript and Postgres, and quotes fixed scope after a free 15-minute technical audit.
This guide is about choosing a company to own a Next.js product. If you plan to hire individual developers into your own team instead, a direct hire or an employer of record fits better; the cost to hire developers in Bangladesh compares those routes. If you are still deciding on the framework, start with Next.js vs React.
What does a Next.js development company actually do?
It makes the decisions a framework leaves open, then builds and operates the result. Next.js gives you routing, rendering modes and server code in one place; a good partner decides how to use each for your product and can explain why.
| Area | What a capable partner decides | A question that tests them |
|---|---|---|
| Rendering | Which routes are static, incrementally regenerated, server-rendered per request or client-heavy, and why | Which of my pages would you cache at the edge, and how are they revalidated? |
| Server Components and data | Where data is fetched, what runs only on the server, and how mutations are validated | How do you stop secrets or unvalidated input crossing the server-client boundary? |
| API layer | Route handlers or server actions, typed validation, auth on every handler | How is every route handler protected, and how is that tested? |
| Auth and route protection | Session handling and the proxy (formerly middleware) that gates private routes | After an upgrade, how do you prove the auth gate still loads? |
| Performance | Budgets for Core Web Vitals such as LCP and INP, image and font strategy, caching | Which budgets would fail a build? |
| SEO and discoverability | Metadata, sitemaps, structured data, canonical URLs | Show me the JSON-LD on a live site you built. |
| Upgrades | A plan for major versions, which change conventions and defaults | What broke in your last major-version upgrade? |
| Hosting and cost | Vercel or self-hosting, database and storage choices, spend monitoring | What does a month of hosting cost on a comparable app, and what drives it? |

What drives the cost of a Next.js project?
The framework is free; the cost comes from what the application has to do. Seven drivers matter most.
- Marketing site or application. A content site with a CMS is a small fraction of the work of a product with accounts, roles and payments. If you only need the first, see Next.js vs WordPress for business.
- Number of portals and roles. A storefront, a seller portal and an admin console are three applications sharing one codebase, each with its own permissions.
- Data complexity. The backend often outweighs the pages. Transactions, stock, multi-tenancy and audit trails are backend work even when they live in a Next.js repository.
- Integrations. Payments, couriers, email, analytics and search each bring edge cases.
- Content and languages. Bilingual content, a publishing workflow and structured data for search add editorial tooling.
- Performance and SEO targets. Enforced budgets and rich structured data are cheap to plan and expensive to retrofit.
- Migration. Moving from the Pages Router, an older major version or another framework adds audit and verification work before new features.
What do Next.js developers and agencies charge in 2026?
Freelance Next.js rates cluster between about $26 and $62 an hour globally, and most web development agencies on Clutch bill $25 to $49. These are market figures from the sources below, checked on 28 September 2026. They are not RAITHub prices.
- Lemon.io gives a global range of $26 to $62 an hour for Next.js developers, with a senior median of about $45 (Lemon.io Next.js developer rates).
- Arc.dev reports regional freelance ranges from $22 to $55 an hour in South Asia to $82 to $130 in the United States and Canada, and $75 to $150 for senior engineers globally (Arc.dev freelance developer rates 2026).
- Clutch says most web development agencies charge $25 to $49 an hour, that most web development projects it reviews cost under $10,000, and that the average project cost is about $66,499, with an average monthly cost of about $7,139 (Clutch web development pricing guide).
- Aalpha puts remote Next.js developers at roughly $30 to $150 an hour depending on experience and location (Aalpha Next.js developer rates).
The gap between "most projects under $10,000" and an average near $66,500 tells you the distribution: many small sites, and a smaller number of large applications that pull the average up. Work out which one you are buying before comparing quotes.
RAITHub does not publish rates. After the free 15-minute technical audit you receive a written audit memo and a fixed-scope estimate with its assumptions. SaaS and MVP builds on Next.js typically run 4 to 6 weeks at a fixed scope; the pricing page explains both engagement models.
Freelancer, typical agency or RAITHub for a Next.js build?
| Factor | Freelancer | Typical agency | RAITHub |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rate signal | Lowest; broad range | Higher; includes design and project management | No published rates; fixed quote with assumptions |
| Visual and brand design | Varies | Often a strength | Engineering-led; brand-heavy design work is better with a design studio |
| Backend depth | Varies widely | Varies; some agencies are front-end only | Transactions, row-level security, audit logs and background jobs are standard work |
| Tests and CI gates | Rarely in scope | Sometimes | Included in every engagement |
| Continuity | One person | A team with cover | Small founder-led studio; founder reviews every architecture |
| Best suited to | Small sites and isolated features | Marketing sites and design-led launches | Next.js applications with accounts, roles, money or multi-tenant data |
Why RAITHub for Next.js development?
Because production Next.js is what RAITHub builds and runs, on platforms it built and on its own website, across three major versions, and it publishes what went wrong as well as what worked.
- TheSkinProof, on Next.js 16 and React 19. The founder's own verified-skincare marketplace, built and run by RAITHub and live since Q2 2025: 225K+ lines of code, 217 API endpoints, 5 role-based portals, Server Components with incremental static regeneration cached at the edge, a PWA with web push, and a 134-guide bilingual content engine with structured data and dynamic sitemaps. Hosted on Vercel with Neon Postgres and Cloudflare R2. TheSkinProof case study.
- Sundor Skin, on Next.js 15 and React 19. A B2B wholesale platform with 77 route pages over a 146-table PostgreSQL core, 530+ tests, and CI on GitHub Actions. Sundor Skin case study.
- This website, on Next.js 16 App Router. 400+ automated tests in CI. When Next.js 16 renamed
middleware.tstoproxy.ts, the upgrade check was proof that the build lists the proxy, admin pages redirect to login and the admin API returns 401 without a session. When a Vercel install failed with ERESOLVE, the fix kept the security upgrade: the next-auth and nodemailer fix. - More Next.js builds. PropDesk, a property-management SaaS with 1,024 tests, and BlockEstate, a multi-tenant listing platform whose MVP shipped in 6 weeks, both run on Next.js.
- A fixed-scope product service. SaaS & MVP Development covers auth with role-based access, multi-tenant Postgres with row-level security, Stripe billing, an observability baseline, branch previews and CI gates, typically in 4 to 6 weeks.
- Founder-reviewed, you own it. Rupak Amin, Founder & Lead Engineer, reviews the architecture on every engagement; a standard NDA comes first and the IP is yours.

When should you choose a different Next.js partner?
When the job leans away from engineering-heavy web applications, or needs something RAITHub does not have.
- A brochure site where design is the product. A design-led studio will serve a brand launch better, and a simpler stack may be enough.
- Native mobile apps. RAITHub builds web applications and PWAs; native iOS and Android development is not a service it has proven.
- Developers seated in your team under your management. RAITHub does not offer staff augmentation; it works fixed-scope or as a dedicated monthly team with its own deliverables.
- A certified vendor. RAITHub is not SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certified.
- A regulated fintech or health product without a compliance partner. RAITHub has not shipped one.
- Delivery in a language other than English. RAITHub delivers in English only.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a Next.js development company cost in 2026?
Most web development agencies on Clutch bill $25 to $49 an hour, and freelance Next.js developers typically charge $26 to $62, with senior specialists above $100 in higher-cost regions. Total cost depends on whether you need a content site or a full application. RAITHub gives a fixed-scope estimate after a free 15-minute audit.
How long does it take to build a Next.js application?
A focused MVP with auth, billing and CI can take 4 to 6 weeks; RAITHub's SaaS and MVP builds typically fall in that range at a fixed scope. Larger platforms with several portals take longer and are usually delivered in phases.
Should I hire a Next.js agency or a freelancer?
A freelancer suits a small site or an isolated feature. A company suits an application with accounts, roles, payments or sensitive data, where continuity, code review and tests matter more than the hourly rate.
Which Next.js versions has RAITHub shipped on?
TheSkinProof and the RAITHub website run on Next.js 16, Sundor Skin on Next.js 15, and PadhAI was built on Next.js 14, all with React and TypeScript.
Can RAITHub upgrade an existing Next.js app to a newer version?
Yes. An upgrade is scoped like any fixed-scope job: audit the app, upgrade in steps, and verify that security-critical pieces such as auth gating still load, with tests gated in CI.
Does RAITHub host the Next.js application?
TheSkinProof and Sundor Skin run on Vercel with Neon Postgres and Cloudflare R2, and RAITHub sets up and tunes that kind of hosting. For client work, RAITHub recommends hosting on accounts you own, so you keep control of hosting, data and billing if you ever change vendors.
Who owns the code RAITHub writes?
You do. Full IP is assigned to you, a standard NDA is signed before detailed discussion, and runbooks are part of handover.
