What a €30k / $30k MVP Budget Actually Buys in 2026

In 2026, $30k or €30k buys roughly 230 to 1,360 hours of developer time, depending on where the team is: about 230–370 hours at US and Canadian freelance rates, and 545–1,360 in South Asia. At mid-range rates, that covers one core workflow for one type of user, with payments, an admin and tests. A two-sided marketplace or multi-tenant SaaS usually needs more.

This guide is for founders with a fixed number in mind, a common way the question arrives: "I have €30k, what can I actually get?" It turns the budget into hours, the hours into scope, and shows what you give up at each step. All rates are published market figures from the sources linked, checked on 29 September 2026. None of them is a RAITHub price; RAITHub publishes no rates and quotes fixed scope after a free 15-minute technical audit. For the wider picture of MVP costs, including ranges below and above this budget, see the SaaS MVP cost breakdown for 2026.

How many development hours does $30k buy in each region?

Divide the budget by the hourly rate. The rate depends mostly on where the developers live, and the spread is more than five to one.

Region or marketPublished hourly rate (2026)Hours that $30k / €30k buys
United States and Canada, freelance$82–$130About 230–370
Western Europe, freelance$70–$120About 250–430
Germany and DACH, freelance average€103About 290
Eastern Europe, freelance$40–$85About 350–750
Latin America, freelance$35–$75About 400–860
Southeast Asia, freelance$28–$65About 460–1,070
South Asia, freelance$22–$55About 545–1,360
US-based agencies$50–$99About 300–600
Agencies in India$25–$49About 610–1,200

Sources: freelance ranges by region are from Arc's 2026 freelance developer rates (26 May 2026). The DACH figure is the average hourly rate in freelancermap's Freelancer-Kompass 2026, a survey in which software and web development is the largest group, though the average covers all respondents. Agency rates are from Clutch's software development pricing guide (updated 21 September 2026), which also says most companies listed there charge $24–$49 an hour. The euro row is in euros; the rest are in dollars, so convert at the day's rate before comparing.

Seniority moves the number as much as location. Arc puts junior freelancers at $20–$50 an hour, mid-level at $40–$90 and senior at $75–$150, so a senior developer in a low-cost region can cost the same as a mid-level one in a high-cost region.

Is $30k enough for an MVP in 2026?

For a focused product, yes; for a broad one, no. Upsilon's September 2026 MVP guide says most startups spend $20,000–$65,000, and it puts a simple web app at $15,000–$35,000 and a B2B SaaS at $30,000–$80,000. A $30k budget sits at the top of the first range and the bottom of the second.

In other words, $30k is a real MVP budget, not a prototype budget, but it has room for one clear job done properly. It does not have room for three user types, five integrations and a native mobile app.

Which scope fits a $30k MVP?

The table applies the published assumptions behind RAITHub's MVP cost estimator to four typical first versions, each with authentication, payments, an admin panel, a template-based design and automated tests. Hours include design, QA and project management. They are market-based estimates to compare scope, not a quote.

First version (estimator assumptions)Estimated hoursAt $25/h (1,200 h)At $50/h (600 h)At $100/h (300 h)

Marketplace: two sides, search, uploads, notificationsAbout 555–1,150Fits, barely at the topTight: lean end onlyDoes not fit

Run your own mix on the estimator; the formula is published on the page. The pattern holds whatever the details: at around $50 an hour, $30k fits one product done lean; at around $100, it buys a well-built slice of one.

What a $30k MVP usually includes

  • One core workflow, end to end, for one type of customer, plus an internal admin.
  • Sign-up, login and password reset.
  • Payments through a hosted checkout, with one or two plans.
  • Transactional email for the moments that matter.
  • Automated tests on the paths that touch money and data.
  • Deployment, error monitoring and a handover you can run without the builder.

What usually waits for version two

  • A second or third user type with its own screens and permissions.
  • Native iOS and Android apps. A responsive web app or installable web app covers most early needs.
  • SSO, customer-defined roles and usage-based billing.
  • More than one or two third-party integrations.
  • Custom design systems, animation and multiple languages.

What are the trade-offs inside a $30k budget?

Every choice below buys hours or buys safety. Neither is free.

ChoiceWhat you gainWhat it costs you
Lower-rate regionTwo to five times the hoursLess working-day overlap; more weight on written specs and weekly demos
Solo freelancerLowest cost per hourDesign, QA and project management fall to one person, or to you
Team or studioDesign, build, QA and delivery coveredHigher rate; some sell senior people and staff juniors, so check who does the work
Fixed priceThe number cannot drift; changes are written requestsThe seller prices in risk; scope must be clear up front
HourlyFlexibility to change directionYou carry the risk; waiting for your decisions is billed
Basic instead of automated QAIn the estimator, QA drops from 20–30% to 10–15% of build hoursRegressions after launch, when fixing them costs more
Template designHours moved into the productA less distinctive look in version one

On overlap: Dhaka, for example, shares 3–4 working hours a day with London, 4–5 with Berlin and none with New York, as set out in Bangladesh vs India vs Vietnam for offshore development. On cheap hours that end in rework, see the hidden cost of cheap offshore development.

Three rules protect a fixed budget, whatever the rate:

  • Cut scope, not quality. One workflow with tests beats three without. Features removed now can be added later; a fragile codebase has to be rebuilt.
  • Hold back a reserve. Keep part of the budget, say 15–20%, for changes after users see the product and for the first weeks after launch. That share is an assumption to plan with, not a benchmark.
  • Budget running costs separately. Hosting, email, error monitoring and payment fees are monthly costs, not part of the build.

Does €30k buy the same as $30k?

Not exactly, because the two currencies trade at different values and rates are quoted in different ones. Convert at the day's rate before you compare a euro budget against dollar-quoted rates. The bigger difference is where the team is. A German freelancer at the freelancermap average of €103 an hour gives you about 290 hours for €30k; the same euros spent at Eastern European or South Asian rates buy two to four times as many.

For European founders, a practical point beyond price: if the product handles personal data, ask any team outside the EU how they handle data processing agreements and transfers. RAITHub signs DPAs and SCCs and follows your controls. This is general information; confirm your obligations with your adviser.

How do you get the most from a $30k MVP budget?

  1. Write down the one job. Who the user is, what they do, and what counts as success. If it takes more than a paragraph, the scope is not an MVP yet.
  2. Validate before you build, if you have not. A landing page or no-code test can answer the demand question for far less. See how to validate your MVP.
  3. Run the estimator with your real features to see which rate band your scope needs.
  4. Ask for a fixed quote with written assumptions, so you can see what would change the number and what is excluded.
  5. Insist on weekly working software and ownership of the code, accounts and domain from day one. The MVP guide for non-technical founders covers what to demand.

Why RAITHub for a $30k MVP?

Because the work is scoped to fit the budget before code starts, and quoted as a fixed price rather than an open meter. RAITHub is a founder-led software studio, founded in 2024 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, working with clients worldwide in English.

  • MVP speed on record. A well-scoped MVP typically takes 4–6 weeks; BlockEstate, a multi-tenant listing platform RAITHub built, reached MVP in 6 weeks.
  • Tests in the budget, not after it. PropDesk, a property-management SaaS RAITHub built, runs 1,024 automated tests.
  • A fixed, written quote. After a free 15-minute technical audit, with assumptions and exclusions listed. The contact form's budget bands include "$25k–$75k", and the quote says what fits inside yours.
  • You own it. The code, accounts and IP are yours; an NDA is standard. See the MVP development service and the pricing page for how engagements work.

When you don't need us

  • You have not tested demand yet. Spend a small part of the budget on validation first.
  • A no-code tool does the job. If it models your data and permissions, it is faster and less expensive for a first test.
  • You need native mobile apps first. RAITHub builds web products and does not offer mobile-app development.
  • You want developers placed in your team by the hour. RAITHub offers fixed-scope builds and dedicated teams, not staff augmentation.

If you have a budget and a problem worth solving, book the free MVP scoping call and bring the one-paragraph description of the job.

Frequently asked questions

Is $30,000 enough to build an MVP?

For one focused product, usually yes. Upsilon's September 2026 guide says most startups spend $20,000 to $65,000 on an MVP and puts a simple web app at $15,000 to $35,000. A broad product with several user types, many integrations or native apps usually needs more.

How many developer hours does $30k buy?

About 230 to 370 hours at US and Canadian freelance rates of $82 to $130, and about 545 to 1,360 hours at South Asian rates of $22 to $55, using Arc's 2026 figures. At the freelancermap DACH average of €103, €30k buys about 290 hours.

What can I build with a €30k budget?

One core workflow for one type of user, with login, payments, an admin panel, transactional email and automated tests on critical paths. A marketplace or multi-tenant SaaS fits only a lean version, and only at lower hourly rates.

Should a $30k MVP be fixed price or hourly?

Fixed price, once the scope is written down. It stops the number drifting and turns changes into written requests. Hourly suits work whose scope is genuinely unknown.

Where should I cut if my scope does not fit $30k?

Cut features, not tests. Drop the second user type, extra integrations, native apps and custom design first. Keep automated tests on anything that touches money or data.

Does RAITHub publish its rates?

No. RAITHub gives a written, fixed quote with its assumptions after a free 15-minute technical audit. The market rates in this guide are from Arc, Clutch and freelancermap, not RAITHub prices.
